In case others spot this problem and are looking for a solution, here's one.

On a site where I have PCDTR on a div with a black background, the first letter of the text was appearing behind the PCDTR for some reason.

The quick fix (and maybe not the best fix) was to edit /plugins/system/pcdtr/css.php and add the following to the .pcdtr span style:

color:transparent;

This then hid the text, as shown in the example image below.

Its when you try to pcdtr a span.

I just get screwed.

color:transparent; works fine in firefox but not in ie8 or ie7.
